The Cybersecurity Awareness Raising Conference, powered by ENISA C-level cybersecurity awereness guide, brought together professionals of both the public and private sector.
The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) in collaboration with the Slovenian National SI-CERT organised this one-day event in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This thematic conference was tailor-made for professionals working in the field.
The main objective of this event was to delve into the central role that the human element plays in the cybersecurity field. It shed light on the behavioural components and psychological aspects of the awareness-raising concept. Participants acquainted themselves with cyber psychology and looked into the relevant techniques that can be deployed.
The panel discussion pointed out the collective nature of awareness-raising efforts, while the second part was dedicated in sharing best practices regarding an audience-based approach in cybersecurity awareness raising. The final session of the event featured presentations on gamified awareness raising tools for cybersecurity, presented in innovating and engaging formats such as escape rooms and video games or the use of storytelling.
Powering cybersecurity awareness raising for C-level management
Aligned with the conference theme, ENISA has published a guide on the promotion of cybersecurity awareness in C-level management of organisations and companies. This handbook aims to address the lack of knowledge or engagement regarding cybersecurity risks across higher-level management and guide organisations in securing their support for the deployement of cybersecurity awareness programmes. It provides guidelines and good practices to facilitate the induction of managers in cybersecurity concepts, fostering a better understanding of its importance and the need for prioritisation. Engaging C-level managers can improve the impact of awareness rasing programmes and eventually promote cultural transformation, cybersecurity maturity and resilience in an organisation.
